VAUGH GITTIN JR Interview
VAUGH GITTIN JR Interview
Popular sport stars usually don’t even consider spend a second for someone they don’t know.
I tried to contact many of them, asking for a very short interview, without any luck.
One evening, I was checking Mustangmania e-mails, as usual. With my enormous surprise I have been replied back from the most popular drifter racer of the World: Vaugh Gittin Jr.!
FS: Hi Vaugh, Thanks a lot for the time you decided to dedicate to us today.
VG: Hi Fabrizio, and a big “HELLO!” to all the European Mustang Owners.
FS:a small introducition of yourself Vaugh
VG:I am Vaughn Gittin Jr.. I am a World Champion drifter, professional Funhaver, and creator of Mustang RTR. Did I mention lover of Mustangs?!
FS: when, where, Why your passion for cars started?
VG:Ever since I can remember all I have thought about was cars, cars, cars! My father used to take me for a ride in his hotrod when I was a baby to put me to sleep. As a young child, I remember always asking my father to do burnouts and donuts which he would. I just loved the sound, the smell, and the feeling of power. The passion for those things have stuck with me to this day.
FS: your first trick & your first crash
VG: Donuts were the first thing I taught myself in a car. First crash: hmmmmm… thats a tough one to remember actually. There has been a few thats for sure…Sorry #1 is not burnt in my head. Must not have been that bad!
FS: Which was The first car you bought?
VG:1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass
FS: Why you choose drift?
VG:I love that I can show my style and personality from behind the wheel of a badass car in Drift. I enjoy driving of all sorts, Drift is my passion though.
FS: How many tires you smash in a race?
VG: About 50
FS: how many races you have in one year?
VG: 7 to 10 competition events and about 20 extra non-competition events.
FS: How many training sessions you have before a race?
VG: I do most of my training in my head. I get quite a lot of practice through other activities, but my time in the actual competition car is limited to special test days and competition weekends.
FS: How much good is the mustang for drifting?
VG: it is AWESOME. Great dimensions and easy to make power!
FS: Is the new 2015 mustang better than the previous generation for drifting?
VG: Yes it is better in all aspects then the previous generation Mustangs.
FS: Let’s be more technical. Which kind of modification you have to do to convert a stock mustang in a drift car?
VG: Stock Mustangs can drift great! But just like anything, you always make them better it just depends how much work you want to do and amount of money to spend. The first upgrades I would suggest are as follows:
- Racing seats and harnesses
- Suspension upgrades (springs, shocks, sway bars, stiffer bushings)
- Steering angle upgrades
- Horsepower upgrades
- If it is a track-only car I, of course, recommend a cage!
FS: Have you got any suggestion for the guys that would like to try drifting?
VG: Most importantly have fun! don’t be scared to ask questions to other drivers that have more experience, practice makes perfect, and once again, have fun!
FS; let’s speak about the man behind the legend: Favorite car ever?
VG: Oh man this is tough!!! I always have loved the Lamborghini Countach. I drove one recently and was very disappointed, but I still have a serious love for them.
FS: daily driver?
VG: New Ecoboost Mustang RTR
FS: are you a good chef?
VG: I am decent, but fortunately my wife is amazing!!!
FS: please share with us your bad abits( I think your wife could answer to this better than you)?
VG: Yes my wife would probably be best to answer. hahahah.
AG( Vaugh’s wife): here is two that come to mind easily!
- I like to leave clothes and shoes laying around
- I take on too many projects and make myself too busy sometimes!!
FS: which kind of guy are you at work?
VG: Work? Its never work if you love what you do!!!
I am a very hard worker, I love my businesses, and my passion drives me to be excited just about every day!
FS: Thanks a lot for the time you dedicated to us Vaugh.
VG: Thanks to you Fabrizio! I hope to visit Italy in the nearby future!
FS: Have you got any private picture that you Would like to share with us?
