Mustang Enthusiasts: Interview to Guido Pertile
Mustang Enthusiasts: Interview to Guido Pertile During our visits at car show, we meet every time people with amazing stories of pure passion. But sometimes the best stories are just behind you, in the same region. I met Guido during one of the Mustang Club of Italy events. My first feeling was how a gentleman like him, with that social background, felt in a very deep love for the Mustang. I think that this case shows even more that the Mustang passion has no age or social background: everybody just loves it. So one foggy and rainy night of December 2015, we decided to seat in a nice restaurant and speak our love: the Ford Mustang. This is his story. I hope you will enjoy it as I have done. 1)Why did you buy a mustang for the first time? What did make you say “I want that one”? The idea of buying my first Mustang become real as a Christmas gift for my fifties in 1997 but it took place many years before. I was 17y.o in 1964 when I saw at a Ford car dealer, the first Mustang generation, freshly imported from U.S.. Its line was extremely different, seems futuristic, merged and make it unique. It was a dream for me, but at that time not affordable. When I got married my first car was a new Ford Capri GT 1600 ( body line was like a copy of a Mustang) for the European market which requires small cars with a low cubic capacity. Hereinafter I bought also SW and a SUV for the family needs, but afte many years, I saw a Mustang again and I like ita so much, finally I made a gift to myself in 1997, it was the first version of a fourth generation, a V8 4.6 Cobra. 2)How many Mustang did you own ? From 1997 to 2015 I have always bought the new one by selling the previous one in total they’ve been 4: 1) Fourth generation, first version 4.6 V8 convertible Cobra; 2) Fourth generation second version 4.6 V8 convertible Cobra With the independent rears wheels; 3) Fifth generation second version 4.6 V8 convertible GT; 4)Sixth generation 5.0 V8 convertible GT. 3) Which was absolutely your favorite? I always bought new models; I never take in consideration the 1964-1970 models. But my favorite one is the SN95 Cobra Convertible. 4)Any special memory linked to that car ? With the Cobra I went on on summer holidays in Scotland for two times, by crossing the Europe with the top opened. Amazing memories… 5)Did you have also any misadventure? After few months I had an accident, here my first Mustang was completely destroyed. I was. I stood in the queue on the highway and someone, as the Traffic Police said, “enter”, the rear of the Mustang at 130km times and stopped after making me take a leap in the air about twenty meters forward. Crumple up but still alive. The car was disassembled and the part from the steering wheel, including two front seats, the rear bumper was detached and thrown. After that the new rear bumper arrived from U.S, and stang was After the new rear bumper came from outside the US, and Stang was refitted with new factory parts, welding manually what the robot had made in the factory at the origin, and seven months after the car was perfect. with new parts factory, welding manually what the robot had made in the factory at the origin , and seven months after the car was perfect. The invoice paid by the insurance was L. 115.000 .000 milions. I had always thanks God for the solid and deforming structure of the rear of the fourth generation; otherwise I would not be here to tell what happened. 6)Do you suggest the Mustang as car? If yes why? The Mustang in U.S is a sports car which everyone can drive. In my opinion it is a reliable car which can last many years if it is carefully handled. The sixth generation was long questioned for the body differences but it is proving a great success. I think that in Italy it wouldn’t have the same success it has in the other European countries, due to the taxation that stave off many passionate and enthusiasts.. When the US rental companies replace their parks sixth-generation Mustang V6 – 3.7, they will be definitely imported in Europe and if you are lucky some good business can be achieved.
