Timothy Raines Interview
One of the most beautiful exposure we have seen during NAIAS 2015 is Timothy Raines automotive drawings.
1 Please introduce yourself?
I think that the best paragraph that could introduced me is the following
“Timothy Raines captures essence of the icons of luxury and sporting lifestyle with a flair for the dramatic and paintings that are charged with explosive energy. Timothy has been an award winning artist from the early age of six, receiving many awards and accolades from multiple competitions. Tim focuses on the art of iconic brands that stand for something more than mere materialism; creations that were launched by craftsmen, artists, thinkers and creators that set out to build something better and lasting. His extensive client list includes: Aston Martin, Michelin, HGTV, ABC, Major League Baseball (MLB), MLB teams and players, the MLB Foundation and more. “
2 When did your passion for art start?
I grew up drawing with my father and enjoyed drawing as early as I can remember, winning art contests from the age of 6.
3 Which was the first drawn you made?
I used to draw typical kid stuff, ships, knights in armor, cars. As I developed, I drew horses, people, etc but cars were an obsession in the teens.
4 Which kind of techniques do you use?
I’ve used many over my life but when I became a full time artist, it was late in life because of my current style, which is dropped onto canvas flat on the ground. Splashed in place.
5 Why did you decide to drawn some icons of the automotive world?
I’ve done car images for many years, so when I developed this dropped paint style, automotive seemed to be the thing to do since I enjoyed the subject.
6 Which message do you want to express with your drawns?
They are purely for the viewers enjoyment, I don’t create art to challenge ideas, it is simply paintings of things at the moment, cars, animals, etc.
As you know we speak about mustangs and I have to ask you something about cars,
7 Which is your favourite car?
I’ve always been a Ferrari lover. Hands down my favorite make. My dad had a 1965 Mustang, the first year it came out, I was too young to really appreciate it at the time but remember it well. The family mostly had Fords over the years and my dad even sold Fords at the local dealer for a period of time early in his career.
8 Which is your daily driver?
I am restoring a 1969 Chevrolet c-10 Suburban that I will use daily as my art hauler and shop truck.
9 Do you have a drawing that represent mustangs? Please if yes can you send us a picture of it?
