USA 2016 – Travel Diary – Day 1
This year we decided to attend again The Detroit Auto show, more commonly know as NAIAS. It was not our first time at the show, but the emotion and the feelings were quite high.
This year we decided to travel from NY to Detroit by car, to see as many places as we can. The trip has been a true on-the road adventure, driving inside snowstorms and mountains, in a very cold weather.
A couple of numbers:
- 2.800 miles driven
- many gallons of water, beer Arizona tea
- Food and junk food
- 2 10 GB usb stick with all the music we may need
- 1 gps, garnished with several software faults
We visited many cities, like Washington D.C, Cleveland, Detroit, Jackson, Livonia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburgh and Parma (Ohio). We drove through many many others.
We had knew many fantastic people that we will remember forever.
This is our travel agenda. We hope you will be able to feel our emotions.
DAY 1: Piacenza-Washington D.C. through New York

As for with any long trip, the part of the preparation of cases is fundamental: this is the reason why we placed in one of two checked luggage 10 pieces of parmesan.The Other suitcases, to be honest, were fairly empty, ready to be filled with our “American” shopping!
As soon as we passed the security checks at Malpensa airport, we found a lovely Airbus A-380 from Emirates, ready to embark us to New York.
Wen nver flown on this super-confortable “monster” before.
Some movies, several cheers and our 8 hours and 30 minute flight became short and full of fun.
Waiting for us in NY with all our luggage, we found our faithful travel companion for 10 days: a Honda Civic Sedan. There we realized that our hopes of finding a Ford Mustang to hire had vanished.
After a drive through a spectacular New York Illuminated at dusk, a straight 3-hour driving on a straight highway in the middle of nowhere, we reached in the middle of the Night Our hotel in Washington DC :, ready to enjoy our first real day of holiday.
